Maya has recently confirmed that she is dating Stormzy, who she shares prior history with, but who are her previous boyfriends and what happened to her engagement with Ben Simmons?

1. Stormzy

   The Love Island host most famous relationship was the four years she spent with British rapper Stormzy.

   She began dating the chart-topping musician back in 2016 when she was 20 years old, and the pair were hailed as 'couple goals' by many.

   Despite this, the pair broke up in 2019, much to their fan's surprise. Following the split, Stormzy went on to shut down speculation that he had cheated on the Love Island host.

   In the summer of 2023, fans speculated that Maya Jama was back with rapper Stormzy, after they were spotted together at a gig.

   Both parties have now confirmed that they are back together, and have even made their first public appearance in November 2023 at a Vogue event in London.

   Since then, Maya spent Christmas 2023 with the 'Crown' rapper, and it appears the pair are back being couple goals!

2. Leonardo DiCaprio

   In early 2023, Maya Jama was rumoured to be dating Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio, after they were 'spotted' partying together.

   A source revealed to The Sun that Leo and Maya "are in regular contact and have been on a string of dates," but the actor has debunked this.

   Leonardo DiCaprio is now dating model Vittoria Ceretti, and Maya has reconciled with Stormzy as of late 2023.

3. Ben Simmons

   Maya and basketball player Ben Simmons dated for around a year and a half before splitting in August 2022.

   Rumours that Maya was dating the sportsman began in May 2021 when she posted a picture of herself on Instagram in a kitchen that was rumoured to belong to Simmons.

   She was also said to be wearing shorts that he had previously been pictured in.

   Maya and Ben confirmed their rumoured romance with a kiss during Wimbledon in July that year.

   In January 2022, the pair sparked engagement speculation after Maya was spotted flashing a huge diamond ring during a coffee date in Philadelphia with her basketball bae.

   A source close to the couple claimed that the basketball player popped the question to Maya over Christmas after she spent the holidays at his £3.7million mansion in New Jersey.

   In February, Maya further fuelled rumours that she was engaged to Ben after being spotted wearing a diamond ring at the Brits 2022.

   A week later, on Valentine's Day, Maya shared a photo of a necklace with the date '12/18/21' on her Instagram story, adding a ring emoji to signify the date the pair got engaged.

   However, the couple were have said to have struggled with long distance and work schedules and eventually called things off.

   A source told NY Post of their breakup that "while they both care for each other so much, they truly gave it their all and realise that they just come from two different worlds."

4. Drake

   Speculation began that Jama had dated Drake when he name dropped her in his feature on Headie One's song 'Only You'.

   The superstar rapped, "Chubbs might jam this yute for a chain / And give it to a sweet one, called that Maya Jama", sending the rumour mill spinning.

   Following this, it was reported that Drake had allegedly messaged the star while she was in a relationship with Stormzy, meaning the messages went ignored.

   An insider, speaking to the Sun, said, "Drake definitely appeared to have a soft spot for Maya" and started following her on Instagram in 2018, despite not getting a follow back.

   However, Maya is said to not even have been interested in the rapper when she became single. The source said, "Maya wasn’t going to entertain any form of contact."

   "Even when she split with Stormzy it’s not something Maya wanted to pursue and she has left it."

5. Rico Gordon

   Maya has been known to speak publicly about her boyfriend, Rico Gordon, who was heartbreakingly killed when she was only 16 years old.

   She discussed the trauma in an interview with Cosmopolitan, saying, "When I was 16 I went through a lot. With my boyfriend passing, it gave me a fearless approach to things. I felt like life was really short."

   She continued, "Out of everything that [has] happened in my life, that was a reality check on a massive scale. At 16 you think the world is a fairytale and it took me out of that. It made me even more determined."
